Introduction to Zurich - Oerlikon
An important transport hub, Oerlikon is a suburb of Zurich, nearly six kilometres north of the city centre. The district can be separated into northern and southern sections, which sit either side of the train station. The station serves seven S-Bahn lines and is also on two lines to Zurich Airport. As such, Oerlikon hotels are useful for those who want easy access to both the airport and the city centre. South of the train station, visitors will find most of the district’s retail outlets, focussing on the Neumarkt and Zuri 11 shopping centres as well as the old market place. The area to the north of the station used to be a heavy industrial area. Nowadays, it is one of the city’s fastest-growing housing areas, where the addition of four contemporary-style parks has delighted local residents.
