Introduction to Zurich - Airport
Switzerland’s biggest international air hub is Zurich Airport, known locally as Kloten Airport and ranked as a four-star complex along with only eight other airports in the world. Handling around 23 million passengers annually, it offers excellent facilities that are well-thought out and well managed, with its own rail station in the basement of the terminal offering routes not only to the city, but to other regions of Switzerland and several German cities. Swiss International Airlines has replaced the defunct Swissair as the national flag carrier and retains a strong presence here. Zurich is the gateway to the Swiss Alps for both skiing and summer sports holidays, and a historic city in its own right, well worth even a short visit.
