Introduction to Zinal, Switzerland

Zinal is a small village located in the Swiss Alps. As such, it comes as no surprise to learn that the village is a prominent winter ski resort. However, the resort continues to cater to visitors during the summer months, when hiking is an equally popular pastime. The village is situated 1,675 metres above sea level and offers access to all of the slopes in the Val d'Anniviers valley as well as 190 miles of marked walking trails during the summer. It is worth noting that a ski-pass for Val d'Anniviers covers several other nearby regions. Zinal hotels are excellent choices for those who would like to stay away from the slopes, yet enjoy the peace and serenity of a scenic mountain village. As such, the resort is especially popular with families as well as groups who are just stopping off for a quiet meal. Travellers can get here by flying to Geneva and then completing the journey by rail or road. Those travelling by train from Geneva should alight at Sierre, a 30-minute taxi ride from Zinal.
