Introduction to Wangs, Switzerland

Just a stone's throw from the Liechtenstein border, Wangs is a popular Swiss ski resort in St Gallen canton. The resort is part of Vilters-Wangs municipality, which consists of two villages, Wangs and Vilters. While the pretty resort sits at an elevation of just over 500m, its two-stage gondola whisks skiers up to 1,830m, with an additional 13 ski lifts on hand to get skiers to the 14 pistes. Here, powder-lovers will be challenged by the kilometre of black run, while the majority of the slopes are suitable for intermediate skiers. Beginners can find their feet on the 18kms of blue runs or take in one of the cross-country trails. The snow is reliable, but there are two snow cannons on hand to bolster coverage if needed. Snowboarding is possible winter through to spring, along with hiking in the summer months. Excursions to the nearby Bad Ragaz spa resort are easy to arrange from Wangs hotels, which mostly cater to skiers. Expressways 3 and 13 converge just to the south of the village, with rail access also close by.
