Introduction to Thun, Switzerland
The medium-sized city of Thun is located within the Berne canton of Switzerland, and is beautifully situated upon the glacial lake of Lake Thun. It holds a population of about 45,000 people, and welcomes a large number of tourists throughout the course of the year. Most tourists travel to the city via the railway system, but it is also possible to fly to the city as there is a small airport in the western districts of town. Thun hotels are located throughout the city, some of which are extremely close to the main attractions. Undoubtedly the most visited and inspiring site in the city is the grand castle. It was built in the 12th century, and now boasts a magnificent museum that includes displays of weapons and relics from the area. The Kunstmuseum art museum is an interesting landmark within the centre of the city.
