Introduction to Spiez, Switzerland
Sleepy Spiez town is located in the Frutigen-Niedersimmental administrative district in Bern canton, south-central Switzerland. The town is centred on a medieval castle that dates to the 1400s. Many elaborate halls including a Baroque banquet room built in 1614 are here for the admiring. In addition to having beauty all of its own, the castle is scenically set before a lake and presents glorious views over the lake to the surrounding mountains all around. The town is chicly situated on hills; several stairways go between the Old Town in the lower parts of Spiez with great shopping and a train station on the high ground. At the Old Town's pier on Lake Thun, ships from Interlaken dock. Good restaurants feature views of the city and lake. All kinds of rooms, budgets and amenities are offered to tourists in Spiez hotels.
