A village in the Swiss municipality of Fluhli, Soerenberg is one of two parishes that make up this scenic part of Entlebuch district in Lucerne canton. The village lies close to Waldemme River, at the foothills of the Swiss Alps. Consequently, Soerenberg hotels are ideal bases for hikers in the summer season. Unlike some neighbouring communities, Soerenberg only has a history dating back 400 years or so. This is reflected in the absence of any major historical sights in the community, which is situated eight kilometres from the village of Fluhli. Both villages are within 15kms of two lakes, Brienzersee and Lungernsee, while a cable car connects Soerenberg with Brienzer Rothorn, a popular starting point for treks. Nearby are forested areas of parkland that are ideal for outdoor recreation, with the main draw of a visit to this part of Switzerland being the nature that makes up the UNESCO biosphere of Entlebuch, where moorland and wildlife wow visitors. The closest major airport is 50kms away at Bern.
