Rothrist is an industrial village in Aargau, northern Switzerland.

The village is part of a wider municipality which includes the surrounding hamlets.

The village centre is less than a mile from the A1 motorway, meaning that several Rothrist hotels have become established here over the years.

They are mainly used by holidaymakers or businesspeople that are looking for a convenient overnight stop near the A1.

There is also a train station which serves regular commuter services from Baden and Langenthal.

Probably the biggest leisure venue in the village is the Rothrist Combined Bathing complex on Stampfiweg.

As the name suggests, this complex combines both indoor and outdoor bathing, offering a range of pools, diving platforms and water slides.

Sunbathers can use the outdoor grassy area, where they can also play badminton or table tennis among other activities.

Outside the village, history enthusiasts should take the chance to visit the Fortress of Aarburg, a Gothic masterpiece just a couple of miles from the village, on the other side of the A1.
