Introduction to Rodi Fiesso, Switzerland

Located in the south of Switzerland, Rodi Fiesso is a small town surrounded by mountains, not far from the border with Italy in the municipality of Prato Leventina. Its most famous attraction is undoubtedly the Lago Tremorgio, a stunning crater lake some 1,800 metres above sea level, featuring crystal blue Alpine waters that rank among the most idyllic stretches of water in the whole of the country. The lake is accessible from Rodi by cable car. Also in the vicinity of this small town is the impressive and very old San Giorgio parish church with its Romanesque tower and stucco dating back nearly 400 years. The town was previously part of the local mule trade that saw local traders move their animals across the high mountain passes in the area. Today, there are no mules but the passes remain a popular walking destination for visitors. There are only a handful of Rodi Fiesso hotels, all of which lie close to the main Nucleo Rodi Road.
