Introduction to Quinto, Switzerland
Situated in the south of Switzerland in the district of Leventina, Quinto lies in a valley, a popular tourist destination, enclosed by steep mountains on both sides. The town itself is listed among the Inventory of Swiss Heritage Sites due to its impressive old buildings and history, which dates back as far as the Iron Age. A grave from this period has been excavated in the valley. Among the other historic sites is the SS Peter and Paul parish church, which dates back about 1,200 years although it was fully rebuilt in 1681. A popular tourist activity here is a ride on the futuristic funicular railway to Lago Ritom, which climbs the steep, grassy mountainside, offering spectacular views of the surrounding area and valley below. Quinto hotels are fairly numerous despite the town's small size because of the local tourism industry.
