Introduction to Ormont Dessous, Switzerland
Right in the southwest of Switzerland, close to the border with Germany, Ormont Dessous is a picturesque Alpine town in the district of Aigle. The tourism highlight of the town is surely the Pont des Planches, a bridge built at the start of the 20th century some 60 metres above the local river and which has since been reinforced to accommodate the demands of rising traffic and is today listed as a heritage site of national significance. La Forclaz, a nearby village located in the same municipality, is listed among the Inventory of Swiss Heritage Sites in its entirety due to the long history of its buildings. The main town and surrounding area is home to stunning Alpine scenery with its nearby snow-capped peaks.
