Introduction to Laax, Switzerland
The trendy Swiss winter sports resort of Laax is an annual mecca for snowboarders, with the planet's largest half-pipe located on Crap Song Gion. It's a sprawling town, set in the Surselva valley in Graubunden district, comprised of quaint Alpine villages dotted around the spectacular landscape. Overlooked by the majestic Swiss Alps, the resort has been a winter sports destination for many years, as well as a summer retreat for its Lag da Cauma natural lake, replenished yearly by melt waters from the massive glaciers. Within the Laax ski resort, the village of Murschetg is the major hub for access to the slopes, with a good selection of Laax hotels close to the ski lifts. The resort prides itself on its snowboarding facilities, although Alpine skiing still dominates and is beginning to attract British skiers as well as the Swiss.
