Actually two towns, Crans and Montana, this resort in western Switzerland is famous for its cross-country skiing (it regularly hosts World Cup events in the sport) and for its spectacular views of some of the major peaks of the central Alps, Mont Blanc to the Matterhorn.
Situated on a plateau some 1,500 metres above sea level, this French-speaking town is one of Switzerland's busiest family ski resorts.
