Introduction to Chur - Old Town
Switzerland's oldest town is Chur, a gem of a place loaded with historic architecture and incredible scenery. The eastern half of town is the old district, which contains dozens of sites and buildings protected as Swiss national heritage treasures. The Church of St Luzius, built in 1178, is one highlight of the Old Town. Nearby, the Raetian Museum has a great collection of religious and cultural relics from the area. Three other museums in town feature the history and art of Chur. There's a wonderful mix of forest and urban development in this alpine town that creates one of the country's most unique environments. The Old Town is loaded with quaint shops, restaurants and places to have a drink. Chur Old Town hotels are by far the best places to stay for those who prefer to walk everywhere.
