Introduction to Bosco Gurin, Switzerland
Bosco Gurin is a small village in the far south of Switzerland, just a couple of miles from the Italian border. The village only has a permanent population of 54 people, but that hasn't halted the development of Bosco Gurin hotels. The village has been designated a Swiss Heritage site due in no small part to the village's Walserhaus. These houses are typical of the Walser; an ancient people who migrated across the Alps from southwest Germany during the 12th and 13th centuries. As such, visitors may find that local residents speak a strange dialect of German. During the wintertime, these snow-capped houses turn Bosco Gurin into a picture-postcard location. The village is a good base for skiers visiting the nearby Grossalp area. In summer, skiers are replaced by hikers intent on taking in the fantastic scenery and clean mountain air. If possible, trekkers should try to pick up some cheese produced by the local shepherds en route. However, this has become more difficult in recent years since the introduction of more stringent health and safety regulations.other spellings: bosco gurinhotels, bosscogurin otel, boscco gorin hotell, bosco gurine hote, buscogurin
