Introduction to Bellinzona, Switzerland
Bellinzona is a lovely and historically rich town in the southeastern corner of Switzerland. It is most renowned for its three castles, all of which were named UNESCO World Heritage sites in 2000. Also old and noble are the town's city walls plus the Church of St Maria delle Grazie, the Collegiata dei St Pietro e Stefano and the Church of St Biagio a Ravecchiai. Ramparts link two of the castles, Castelgrande and Castello di Montebello, which are set upon hills. Castelgrande has been fortified for two millennia and was the town's only fortress until the 1200s. It features a stunning, nearly vertical drop on its nearly impregnable north side. There are sensational views of the valley from here. Sasso Corbaro has heavily fortified walls. Bellinzona hotels well serve tourists who want to take their time in enjoying the three castles. Beyond its storybook architecture, Bellinzona has held the popular Rabadan carnival since the mid-1800s.other spellings: bellnzonahotels, bellinzoan otel, bellinznoa hotell, bellinozna hote, belliznona hotes
