Stockholm has a particularly good entertainment and nightlife scene, featuring really good jazz, as well as trendy bars and clubs and a well-established gay scene. Much of the action is centred on the Stureplan area. Local law restricts the sale of alcohol to 24:00, but there are some nightclubs and a few bars that manage to sell drinks until somewhat later, and stay open until around 05:00. One of the city’s trendiest bars and restaurants is called Halv Trappa Plus Gard. There’s also the historical venue, Tennstopet Bar, which has been open for a century and is still very popular. Sturecompagniet and Spy Bar, also found at Stureplan, are favourites with actors and other well-known locals. Spy Bar is noted for an elitist door policy and as with most other clubs here, a dress code and over-20 age limit are enforced.
