Festivals and Events in Stockholm
January Festivals

Swedish Sport Gala: is held at the city’s Globe Arena every January. This event has been called the ‘Oscars of the Sporting World’. Athletes who have achieved significant success in their respective sporting endeavours are presented with these highly-coveted awards at the Gala, which is televised nationally.
April Festivals

Walpurgis Night at Skansen: is the Swedish celebration of the arrival of spring, held in April in Stockholm at the Skansen Open-air Museum. Live music is in the air and bonfires warm the cool spring evening, while visitors enjoy the festive atmosphere and the plentiful food and drink.
June Festivals

Midsummer's Eve Celebration: is celebrated in June throughout the country, marking what at one time was an important pagan fertility festival. Even today, ancient rites are performed, as are dances around the maypole, in full traditional folk costume.
July Festivals

Stockholm Jazz Festival: five days of jazz and other music performances are scheduled in July on Skeppsholmen Island, Stockholm, featuring internationally-renowned musicians. Music legends such as Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, Van Morrison and Stevie Wonder are some of the greats that have topped the bill in past years.
Baltic Sea Festival: is a regional event devoted to music, held in Stockholm and also in Gdansk, Helsinki and Turku. The programme features a week of concerts, orchestra performances and seminars on various topics in music, in August. The variety of works ranges from Mozart to Mahler and solo and choir performances are also part of the overall offerings.
October Festivals

Annual Museum Night: a large number of Stockholm’s important cultural institutions stay open to the public late on this evening in October. Each museum or institution features a unique programme that includes activities such as discussions and workshops, readings and special visits by artists and notables in the various fields of performance art.
