Park: Malmo has so many pleasant green spaces that it has become known as the ‘City of Parks’. The oldest park, Kungdparken, was established in 1872 and is full of exotic flowers and trees. Slottsparken has more wooded areas as well as a range of sculptures and a Japanese garden. Pildammsparken has some large ponds and is more popular with families who come to feed the geese.
Beach: Malmo is located right by the sea and has some great beaches and activities for all ages. Ribersborg beach (Ribban) is within walking distance of the city centre and attracts many of the locals as well as visitors. The sandy beach area boasts old open-air swimming pools (Kallbadhuset) that date back to 1898.
Shopping: the huge choice of shops and the pedestrianised area make Malmo a great place for shoppers. There is a good mix of shopping malls and smaller boutique stores with the most exclusive area found at Hansacompagniet. The pedestrianised street runs from Stortorget Square to Triangeln via Sodergatan.
