If you are unfortunate to be taken ill for whatever reason in Sweden, then you’ll find both public and private hospitals offering an exceptionally high standard of health care.

EU visitors in possession of a valid EHIC document, will qualify for free medical treatment while all other visitors will need to make sure that their holiday insurance has adequate medical provision, else be faced with some fairly hefty hospital/doctor bills. Holiday insurance is in fact recommended for all visitors, irrespective of their origin.
