Introduction to Tanum, Sweden
Tanum is a small Swedish town located some 80kms north of the city of Gothenburg, on the western coast. The town is famous for its rock paintings, which have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. The paintings date back to the Bronze and Iron ages and can either be seen directly at the rocks or at the Tanum Rock Carving Museum. The rock paintings are eroding, as most are exposed, and scientists are trying hard to protect them. There is not much else to see in Tanum other than the beautiful Swedish coast and nature. Other attractions are mostly nature-based, such as Algafallet Waterfall and Bularens Animal Park. There are not many large Tanum hotels to choose from, as most are small in size. Most accommodation is dotted along the coastal area. From Tanum, it is possible to make a daytrip across the border into Norway, around 20kms to the north and accessible via the E6 motorway. other spellings: tanam otel, tanam hotell, tanam hote, tatame
