Introduction to Solleftea, Sweden
Solleftea is a Swedish city located in the eastern part of the country. It grew around the iron and timber industries, but has a history dating back to the Stone Age. The area has rock carvings that date back some 5,000 years. Some of these can be seen at nearby Namforsen. Most visitors flock to Solleftea to enjoy the amazing rapids here along the Angerman River, one of the longest rivers in Sweden. Those visitors who are adventurous should seek out a kayak tour along the river, while others can enjoy the river by following one of the many hiking trails along its banks. There are plenty of Solleftea hotels to choose from in the city centre. Those travelling with children should spend a day at Junsele Animal Park. In the winter, there is great skiing, both downhill and cross-country, in the region.
