Introduction to Koping, Sweden
Koping is a town in south-central Sweden, just under 100kms away from the capital city of Stockholm. It is located at the edge of the beautiful Lake Malaren, the third-largest lake in Sweden. Many visitors head to Koping in the summer months to enjoy the lake, where fishing, boating, swimming, canoeing and much more are on offer. One great activity is to explore the many castles and palaces, about 15 in total, which are dotted around the lake. The closest one to Koping is Stromsholm Palace, located to the west of the town. This palace dates back to the 17th century and makes for a romantic daytrip. Its yellow colour makes it distinctive and the grounds are home to an equestrian centre. One of the main museums in town is the KUJ Railway Museum. A must is to hire one of the rail bicycles and cycle along the local tracks. Koping hotels are mostly located right in the centre of town, with many of them leading international chain hotels.
