Introduction to Helsingborg - City Centre
Helsingborg is the closest Swedish city to Denmark, and is located on the southwestern coastline of the country. It is regarded as one of the most historic cities in Sweden, boasting a plethora of narrow alleyways throughout the centre, not to mention, old style churches and a fortress. Helsingborg hotels vary from budget-class to expensive lodgings, but those that are located close to the main attractions of the city offer higher rates for guests. The centre of the city is based around the ferry port and the main train station. St Maria Church and Gustav Adolfs Church are among the many attractions found in the city centre. There are several museums, including Helsingborg Historical Museum of Medicine, in the city centre, as well as a number of nice shopping opportunities, such as Bruksgatan Street and Kullagatan. The downtown district is also the location of Dunkers Kulterhaus, which is similar to a museum, but much more interactive. It is one of the city’s most renowned attractions, and one of the only 'culture houses’ in Sweden.
