Introduction to Gothenburg - Stena Line
Sweden's second biggest city is Gothenburg. The city is sited on the nation's west coast, at the point where the river Gota Alv flows into the Kattegatt Sea. The city's important site on the coast has helped it become one of the leading maritime and trade cities in the region. Nowadays, visitors can follow historic footsteps by taking a Stena Line ferry from Frederikshavn in Denmark or Kiel in Germany to Gothenburg. There are a number of Stena Line hotels close to the ferry terminal which make a comfortable base for exploring the city or as a stopover point before embarking on journeys to onward destinations. The main city thoroughfare, Kungsportsavenyn, is one kilometre from the terminal. Trams cover the distance between the two and give easy visitor access to cafes, restaurants, pubs, clubs, galleries and museums that include the Rohsska and the Maritiman floating ship dock. The Liseberg amusement park is south of the centre, and draws here such as a wooden roller coaster pull in visitors from all over Scandinavia. Visit our Gothenburg Travel Guide
