Getting There

By air: visitors arriving in Kandy will land at Colombo International Airport, which is located about 30kms north of Colombo. From the airport, it is possible to take a taxi or bus service direct to Kandy. The journey takes about 2 hours, 30 minutes. Emirates-owned Sri Lankan Airlines is the only airline that operates non-stop flights from Europe and Asian countries to Colombo.

By train: trains leave from Colombo and arrive in Kandy two hours later. Travelling by train is perfect for admiring the picturesque countryside en route. It is recommended to book your seat in advance as the train tickets are sold out very quickly.

By foot: walking is a good way to admire the beauty and grandeur of this historic city. You can take relaxing strolls around Kandy while observing many popular tourist attractions.
