Kandy also has a selection of pubs, bars and nightclubs in the city centre, however none of the other cities or towns has a nightlife district worthy of mention. Every popular tourist destination has venues for eating and drinking while observing traditional dancing, music and other cultural displays, but these are usually low-key affairs that cater to mainly to groups of visiting tourists. Night markets provide a source of fun and interest during the evening, not to mention the chance of scoring some unique items at bargain prices if you are wary of the inevitable cheap fakes. Local handicrafts, clothing, batik and tea are among the best buys. | |
