The dry, central part of Sri Lanka has had a long history of civilization, and the ancient Singhalese kings erected fabulous cities and monuments which have stood the test of time and remain standing today. Three of legendary Singhalese capitals, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Kandy respectively form the north, east and south points of Sri Lanka’s famed ‘Cultural Triangle’.
