Shopping: each city and town within the Cultural Triangle has its own unique traditional handicrafts, clothing, embroidered items and other wares for sale. These can usually be picked up at local markets for a fraction of the price you’d pay in Colombo, and the markets themselves are great places to relax and observe local traditions.
Spas: the hill country has plenty of relaxing spa resorts, where you can spend a few hours soaking up herbal water amid breathtaking scenery. Many of the hotels in the main centres in the Cultural Triangle can offer spa treatments in the privacy of your own room or in dedicated facilities within the building.
Dining: the cuisine of the Cultural Triangle is very distinctive when compared to other Sri Lankan regions. Although the dishes are basically the same, i.e. rice with curry dishes, the ingredients and ratios used to prepare the curries are unique to the region, thus creating a recognisable flavour.
