Valencia Travel Guide
Many of the city’s museums and galleries are world-famous and house some priceless artefacts. If you tire of the museums, enjoy a more sedate pace at one of the many stunning gardens found throughout.
Valencia Cathedral: the city’s cathedral dates back to the 13th century and is believed to have been the holder of the Holy Grail for 500 years. It was built on the site of an old mosque and boasts an impressive 155-foot high Gothic tower which offers stunning views across the city.
City of Arts and Sciences (Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias): this fascinating building is home to a number of first-rate attractions including a planetarium, interactive science museum, IMAX cinema and a huge aquarium.
La Albufera: this nature can be found behind Playa del Saler, Valencia’s most popular beach. A number of sandbanks and wooded areas protect a large freshwater lake where hundreds of bird species nest and breed. It is possible to enjoy a boating trip on the lake while watching the flamingos and herons.
Museo de Bellas Artes: this Fine Arts Museum is one of Spain’s most prominent art galleries, boasting masterpieces by artists such as El Greco and Ribera as well as up and coming artists from the Valencian impressionist school.
Museo Nacional de Ceramica: this is the city’s ceramic museum which houses impressive ceramics from around the world including local Alcora and Paterna pieces.
