Tenerife Travel Guide - Things To Do
Climbing: at 3,718 metres, Mount Teide is the highest mountain on the island and on a clear day, the stunning snow-peaked volcano can be seen from virtually anywhere on the island. There is a cable car which runs to the top, and many people choose to hike up and take the cable car back.
The cable car dœesn’t operate if it’s windy, so be prepared that you may have to walk there and back. You will be rewarded however with some stunning views and scenery, as well as a nice bracing wind. Mount Teide is within the National Park of the Canadas.
In ancient times the cliffs were considered sacred, as people thought they represented the edge of the world. The resort of Los Gigantes is across the bay, close to Puerto de Santiago.
Taganana: Taganana is a small and remote village on Tenerife and is something of a paradise for walkers and wildlife enthusiasts. It’s a great place to stroll around enjoying the natural beauty and it is also known for delicious fresh fish and fine rose wine. This is certainly a place to explore the traditional culture of Tenerife, away from the tourist resorts.
