For those looking for a wild night out then Playa de las Americas is the nightlife capital of Tenerife. There are three different areas in the town: the Patch, Veronicas and Starco. Veronicas and Starco are the main nightlife centres, with dozens of bars and nightclubs all within easy walking distance of each other.
Most bars here don’t have an entrance fee, but do require that men wear a shirt. Generally, bars here are open until 04:00 and night clubs until 06:00. Veronicas and Starco are certainly not the place for those looking for a quiet night out, with loud music and touts desperately trying to get you into their establishment. Prostitutes are also known to work in some of these areas.
If you’re looking for a quieter night out with some good food, then head for a different resort town such as Puerto de la Cruz, where you can sample some local wine and good tapas. The island is dotted with English style pubs, which have a down to earth and friendly atmosphere. The Casino Taoro in Puerto de la Cruz is popular for a stylish night out.
There are a number of live music venues around the island in bars and hotels; the Pyramid de la Arona is a good place for Spanish flamenco dancing. The Castillo San Miguel has a medieval dinner show which is very popular with families who will be entertained with jousting and horsemanship. Tenerife also has an opera season that runs from October to December.
