Guimar Pyramid: located on the east coast of the island, the Guimar Pyramids are one of the great mysteries of Tenerife. Thor Heyerdahl, a renowned ethnographer investigated the step pyramid here but failed to find a conclusive explanation of its origins. Some people believe that the pyramid was built by an ancient civilisation that once ruled the island.
Las Aguilas Park: is an ecological park located behind Los Cristianos resort on 75,000 square metres of lush tropical gardens. The park has a range of animals in among the pleasant garden setting. There are a number of different shows throughout the day to entertain the visitors, with the most popular including the penguin feeding, eagle flights and parrot shows.
Octopus Aquapark: as the name might suggest, this is an octopus themed water park. Located near to Playa Las Americas, the park is open all year and is great fun for the kids. There are a range of wildlife and dolphin shows, as well as marine exhibitions, but also a number of pools with waterslides, tubes and diving boards.
Loro Park: is Tenerife’s most popular wildlife centre. Located close to Puerto de la Cruz, the park is home to the largest collection of parrots in the world. The parrot, dolphin and sea lion shows are the most popular activity here, entertaining visitors every day.
Masca: this delightful village has a very traditional Tenerife and Canarian atmosphere, which has been well-maintained. You can now drive here and it is a very popular spot as it remains a picturesque and secluded place. It’s particularly popular with hikers who walk from here to the cliffs at Los Gigantes.
