Lucha Canaria: is a traditional sport that has been played here since before the Spanish conquest. This is a combative sport where two opponents fight in a ring, with the winner being the first one to force his opponent to touch the floor, with any part of their body.
The format is for two teams with 12 competitors who will continue to battle it out until one team has eliminated all of the other team’s fighters. This old style of wrestling has become a popular tourist attraction.
It is also possible to swim with dolphins or go on deep seas fishing trips, which most resorts can organise for you. Sailing is also popular here, and there are plenty of yachts that can be hired for a few hours or days, with crews if required. For waterskiing or jet-skiing head for Playa de las Americas, the best place to go.
Golf: Tenerife is extremely popular with golfers, with the excellent climate and some good courses attracting many back year after year. Golfing here tends to be fairly relaxed with no dress codes on the courses and none of them require membership. The Severiano Ballesteros designed Buenavista Golf Club is among the most popular and most attractive courses and Golf del Sur is another scenic course. Most of the courses have clubs available for rent.
