The enormous cathedral can be found in the centre of the city and boasts the tomb of Christopher Columbus. It is the biggest cathedral in the world and offers stunning views from atop its 13th century tower, La Giralda. Next door to the cathedral, you will find the Alcazar, the former home of the royal family.
Just outside the city is the impressive remains of the Roman city, Italica, while slightly farther away is the stunning town of Cordoba with its colourful streets and shady courtyards. The Mezquita can be found here too, which is an 8th century significant Islamic monument. Seville is located close to the coast and there are some beautiful beaches to explore along the Costa de la Luz.
After a busy day of sightseeing, there is the option to take it easy at your hotel or you might like to sample Seville’s exciting array of night-time activites. These range from flamenco to bullfighting and theatre performances to tapas bars. Seville’s location and heritage, along with its year-round good weather and friendly locals, make it an ideal getaway, whether it be for a weekend, a week or longer.
