January Festivals
Cavalcada de los Reyes Magos: held in January, this event is an energetic parade of the Three Kings through the streets. The kings travel in colourful horse-drawn carriages and throw sweets and gifts out to eager children.
February Festivals
Carnival/Shrove Tuesday: this is a big event in the entire region and sees many people turn out into the streets in fancy dress to toss their pancakes as well as to throw street parties and cook food for passers by. It is a great time to be in the city as spirits are high and music is in the air.
April Festivals
Feria de Abril (April Fair): is a celebration of the city’s strong ties with the Andalusian countryside and features traditional costume and processions which end in the village of Almonte.
May Festivals
Festival Internacional de Teatro y Danza: sees performers from internationally acclaimed theatre groups arrive in the city to showcase their talents at Seville’s esteemed Teatro de la Maestranza. The event is held in May every year.
September Festivals
Bienal de Flamenco: held every September in even years only, this major flamenco event sees the world’s greatest performers congregate and perform at some of Seville’s top venues around the city.
December Festivals
Fiesta de la Inmaculada: held in the evening of 7 December every year, student minstrel bands, known as tunas, gather in the Plaza del Triunfo by the cathedral and sing traditional songs.
