Mallorca (Majorca) Travel Guide - Eating Out

Alongside its excellent local cuisine, the island is well equipped for visitors with Italian, German, English, and Chinese restaurants as well as various fast food joints located throughout the main tourist centres. Eating out is a favourite local pastime, and traditionally locals don’t head out to eat until quite late, often well after 21:00.
Local Mallorcan cuisine is influenced by Catalan, Jewish and Moorish origins and many of the best local restaurants are family run places, often found just outside the main tourist areas.
The Spanish favourite, Paella, can be found throughout the island and with such good seafood here, it is a favourite with many tourists. There are some good local wines available, from the Llevant and Binissalem areas of the island and palo de Mallorca, the local liqueur, should also be sampled.
There are good restaurants all over the island, with some stunning coastal settings especially popular with visitors. Don’t limit yourself to the coast however, as there as some wonderful places to be found up in the mountains and in some of the smaller villages, away from the main tourist centres. As a general rule, prices tend to be cheaper away from the most popular tourist areas and there is some great value to be found, especially when compared to major European cities.
