Football: for football fans, you can enjoy some top quality action, with the local team Real Club Deportivo Majorca (Mallorca) plying their trade in Spain’s La Liga, considered by many to be the top league in the world. They play in the 26,500 seat stadium at Son Moix, with home matches played every other Sunday through the season. Depending on the opposition you could get the chance to see some of the world’s very biggest stars.
Cricket: for Brits who miss the national summer sport too much, then check out the Magaluf Cricket club, where are group of enthusiastic expats play matches against a variety of local and visiting sides.
Golf: golf enthusiasts will be right at home here, with 15 courses spread across the island and excellent golfing conditions most of the year. Some of the courses here are quite spectacular, playing among olive trees with stunning views out to sea. The best and most popular courses here include Bendinat, Pula, Santa Ponsa and Son Vida.
Sailing and scuba diving: there are sailing schools in Palma and Pollenca and the sailing around here is excellent. For scuba divers, take a boat trip to Cabrera Island, where there is some excellent marine life and superb conditions for a dive. There are also plenty of water sports available from the beach resorts, with jet-skiing, banana boat rides, and pedalo trips especially popular.
