For many people, the main attractions here are the superb beaches and long sunny days, but the island also has plenty of other things to offer visitors. There are a number of interesting art galleries and museums and for those wanting to escape the busy beach there are some delightful villages up in the mountains such as Deia and Soller, where you can escape from the bustle of the tourist resorts. The island is renowned for its caves and underground lakes that are dotted around the island. Aquacity, located just outside Palma, is one of the world’s biggest water theme parks and is a fun day out for all the family. If all-night clubbing isn’t your scene, then the island is big enough to escape from that and spend a pleasant evening in a quiet restaurant enjoying some coastal views. There are some excellent restaurants here where you can enjoy some of the local delicacies. Transport links both to and around the island are pretty good. The airport is modern and well equipped, and during the summer months becomes the busiest airport in the country. It is also possible to travel by ferry, some of which are suitable for vehicles as well. |
