Day Trips and Excursions in Majorca
There is a good network of hiking trails, ranging from relaxing beach strolls to more adventurous cliff and mountain hiking. This is a great option for those people who don’t want to spend all their time relaxing on the beach.
The train ride to Soller: is one of the most popular excursions for visitors to the island. The train runs through the Tramuntana Mountains that stretch the length of the northwest coast and there are also some marvellous views as you wind through olive groves and fruit orchards. When you arrive, Soller is a pleasant place to spend some time, a quiet sleepy town with narrow lanes, enjoying a break in one of the cafes in the town’s main square is a must.
There are some good restaurants and cafes here, as well as some pleasant walking to be done. From April to October (not including July) there are classical musical concerts at the stately mansion, Son Marroig, every Saturday night.
Parc Natural de l’Albufera: this wetland national park covers an area of 2,500 hectares and is of great ecological importance. It is a fascinating place to visit with some wonderful wildlife to be observed.
