Museo del Prado: is among the most important art museum facilities in Europe and for that matter, in the world, boasting a huge collection of artworks comprised of paintings, drawings, sculptures and various objet d’arts hailing from the a variety of genres. Among the works are examples by French, German, Dutch, Italian, Flemish and English artists.
Museo Sorolla: the best of the works of painter Joaquin Sorolla are housed in this former residence of the famous Spanish artist and is comprised of paintings, sculptures, ceramics and works in other media.
Museo de la Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando: housed in the Goyeneche palace, the museum is home to a collection of works by Spanish artists comprised of paintings, drawings, sculptures, etchings and other media.
Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza: is so named because its collection originally belonged to Baron Hans Heinrich Thyssen-Bornemisza before being acquired by the Spanish state. The collection is comprised of more than 800 paintings among which are examples dating back as far as the 13th century and other from more recent times. The collection is an impressive representation of the artistic trends that have the last few hundred years have been witness to.
