Visitors are guaranteed to receive a warm welcome in many tapas bars as well as pubs and clubs throughout the city. Even many of the locals in suburbs have a lively and welcoming character. Drinking in Spain is relatively cheap and most places don’t close their doors until the early hours. Live music is very popular, but remember its not all flamenco dancing and Spanish guitar.
A number of nightclubs and bars can be found in the Barri Gotic area. These however tend to be designed for tourists and you don’t really get to see the real Barcelona at night. For something more authentic, try visiting L'Eixample.
