Corpus Christi: this festival includes street-processions, carpets of flowers and a 'dancing egg', which is balanced on the cathedral's fountain.
Sonar: this event is generally regarded as being the biggest celebration of electronic music in the whole of Europe. DJs hold parties at venues across the city for the entire month of June.
August Festivals
Assumption Festa Major: is held in mid-August and sees the streets filled with parties and processions, houses adorned with flowers and ornate decorations and the local population gathering in force to celebrate this important date in the Catholic calendar.
September Festivals
La Merce Festival: this is the festival celebrating Barcelona's patron saint, La Merce. A wide range of activities are organised for people of all ages, including the ‘correfoc’ (fire-breathing dragons) and the pyrotechnical music show (fireworks and classical music next to the Montjuic fountains).
