Introduction to Valencia - Betera
Found on a slope of the Sierra Calderona, Betera is known for its ideal climate and makes for a great holiday destination. The town is filled with history and culture, and like other towns in the Valencia region, it has plenty of festivals. The main festival is held each August to commemorate the Virgen de Agosto. At this time, the town comes to life with concerts, games and processions. There is a fantastic golf club close by. Betera hotels tend to be aimed at those with large wallets, although cheap accommodation can be found. A number of old stone building remains can be seen throughout the town and the Roman villa of l'Horta Vella is not to be missed. The Castillo Arabe (Arab Castle) is listed as a Provincial Historical Monument and dates back to the year 1,000 AD. It now houses the municipal library.
