Introduction to Tenerife - Los Realejos
Tenerife surprises some new visitors who think of it as purely a beach and sea kind of holiday island, but inland Tenerife has a unique micro climate which attracts a myriad of bird and wildlife. The volcanic make up of the island is easily discovered with trips to the centrally located national park at Teide, and is very evident on the black sand beaches. Los Realejos is one of the towns which makes for a good holiday centre, with the rugged coast of Playa de Los Roques. This is a great location for cliff top walks as well as days at the most popular beach in the area at La Socorro. In the town, there are plenty of quality Los Realejos hotels which include spa resorts for those after a spot of pampering. In addition, there are lots of restaurants serving locally caught seafood and the local fresh produce from the nearby fruit and vegetable farms. Los Realejos is split into a higher and a lower sector, with each having its own church which was built in the period of the Spanish conquistadors. Visit our Tenerife Travel Guide
