Introduction to Tenerife - Bajamar
Lying on the northwestern coast of Tenerife in the Spanish Canary Islands, Bajamar is a low-key but beautiful seaside resort. Although the area has been popular with holidaymakers for close to 40 years, particularly Germans, the town has avoided over development because the Atlantic is too rough here for bathing and the beach is quite rocky. However, there are two sea water pools in Bajamar that are refreshed each day by the receding tide. Away from the seafront, the town backs on to the Anaga Mountains which offer excellent views of the coastline and countryside which makes the area a favourite among hikers, particularly as the weather here is usually good year-round. Little San Juan Bautista chapel in the town dates back to 1628 and is worth a visit.
