Introduction to Seville - El Arenal
El Arenal is a district within the city of Seville’s historic precinct in southwest Spain. The district is located between the right bank of the River Guadalquivir and Santa Cruz. Selecting El Arenal hotels is an easy option as visitors are within close distance of the city’s landmark 13th century watchtower of Torre del Oro, La Real Maestranza bullring and the Royal Shipyards, which date from the 1250s. Santa Maria Cathedral is towards Santa Cruz and is a majestic edifice that ranks as one of the biggest cathedrals in the world. It contains the alleged tomb of Christopher Columbus. Maria Luisa Park is on the southern edge of El Arenal and is home to Plaza de Espana and the Archaeological Museum’s Roman artefacts. The plaza and its Renaissance-style buildings were constructed for a 1920s exposition. The centrepiece of it is a large fountain with a moat and ornate bridges. El Arenal is at the heart of Seville’s nightlife and dining precinct, where tapas and the local Cruzcampo beer are among the offerings. Visit our Seville Travel Guide
