Introduction to Seville - Benacazon
Situated just 10 miles west of the centre of Seville in the southwest of Spain, not far from the Portuguese border, Benacazon is a suburb that features a number of attractive old ecclesiastical buildings. The Hermitage of Castilleja de Talhara dates back to the 14th century and is widely considered the best example of a Moorish church in the area. Another similar building, the Hermitage of Gelo in a similar style, is less striking but nonetheless also worth a visit. Santa Maria church in Benacazon is another old building in the area dating back over 350 years. Farther afield, Donana National Park beside the sea is just over half an hour away by car with its spectacular coastline and hreenery that makes a welcome break from the city.
