The ancient city of Segovia may be less than an hour’s drive from the Spanish capital city of Madrid, but a trip to Segovia often feels like a journey several centuries back in time. Segovia is a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to its 2,000 year old aqueduct originally built during the Roman Empire, several stunning churches, and spectacular location atop a rocky ledge. Even several hotels in Segovia date back centuries, including the city’s parador which used to be a historic landmark and another hotel housed inside a former palace from the 17th century. Of course, there are plenty of more modern Segovia hotels, as well, along with comfortable guest houses (pensiones) which tend to cost less than hotels in Segovia. Accommodation prices for some pensiones can be cheaper than meals at good quality Segovia restaurants. Regardless of which hotel you choose, booking in advance during the busy summer season is very much recommended as vacancies fill up fast.
