Introduction to Sant Quirze de Besora, Spain

Sant Quirze de Besora is located about 60kms north of the city of Barcelona, near the French border. Nestled along the banks of the Ter River, this town in Catalonia is a beautiful medieval landmark. The Ter River plays an important role to the town and many activities are centered around the river. Strolling along the promenade along the river banks is one such activity. More adventurous visitors can take canoes onto the river. The town centre can easily be explored on foot and is home to many historic buildings. One attraction in the town is the Bosch Distillery, still run by the Bosch family. Guided tours need to be booked at least one week in advance. Many visitors head to Sant Quirze de Besora to enjoy trekking or hiking. The more serious hikers can try their hands at the Cami Vora Ter GR 210 trek, which is about 60kms in length. An official trekking map can be obtained from the local tourist authority. There are several Sant Quirze de Besora hotels to choose from, both small and medium-sized, on either side of the river.
